Not for Rain Bird systems only
Bought this for use w/ an Orbit controller. Less money and is equipped w/ a power on indicator light; just had to cut off the connector and splice the wires together....no biggie. Works great.

Rain Bird Transformer
My sprinkler system got zapped by a close lightening strike. I was able to find and install the Rain Bird UT1 and now the sprinkler system timer works great. Delivery was fast and saved my lawn from turning brown.
Power Transformer
The power transformer arrived ahead of the delivery estimate and was packaged well. The transformer supplies adequate power to my sprinkler valves. I especially like the "power on" indicator lamp. I configured the power distribution a bit differently so the power status indication is a big bonus for me.

Works great!
I purchased this product a few months ago. I wanted something with the promise of wireless, I also needed at least two controllers that wouldn't interfere with each other on a network. The company couldn't guarantee the wireless adapter would work so, I bought one hoping for the best. It works great.

I purchased Irrigation Caddy Model ICEthS1 and a refirbished Netgear WNCE2001 WiFi adapter. I used static IP addresses. The users manual for the irrigation caddy says that it is for indoor use and the internet adapter is obviously meant for indoor use. Not one to follow directions, I have mine installed in an old Toro panel that I found and mounted it to the side of the house. So far so good. We'll see how it stands the test of time outdoors.

The irrigation caddy has a built in web server which is how you interface with it. As long as you set each one to a different IP address and give it a different name, you can have as many as you want on your home...

Perfect for my needs!
This gadget will let you control your sprinkler system from the web. Installation is simple:

1) Attach ethernet cable to IrrigationCaddy
2) Move valve control wires from old controller to this new one
3) Plug in power supply
4) On a Windows PC type "irrigationcaddy" into your web browser.

Voila! You're ready to program it.

[ If you do not have a Windows PC, you will need to discover the unit's IP address by hand. Typically you would do this by connecting to your router and looking at the various addresses it has assigned via DHCP. The hardware address for IrrigationCaddy will look like "00:04:A3". This is easier to do than it sounds here. Once you know the IP address, you can type it into your iPad or Mac or whatever and you're set. ]

This product is very reasonably priced and the interface is easy to use. We were controlling our sprinklers just a few minutes after running a new ethernet cable to the sprinkler control...
Worked perfectly - and use POWERLINE ADAPTER for remote locations
I purchased two of these - one for the front yard and one for the back.
The device is very small. So small I was able to rip the guts out of the outdoor enclosure of my existing controller and place the Irrigation Caddy inside it.

In my opinion, the software interface (as good as it is) is not as good as Lawncheck (which IC is not compatible with), but I am betting that future software updates will address that.

One important thing you will need to consider is how you will get Ethernet out to your IC. Your unit will probably be in your garage or on the side of your house, so how do you get internet out there? Several people are using WiFi, purchasing a WINCE2000 adapter. I tried that route and it failed miserably. The WiFi adapter did what it was supposed to do, but because I had to protect it from the elements, it's reception capability was compromised to the point where it could no longer pick up my router's WiFi signal.

Almost perfect but one giant flaw
OK, I agree w/ all that was said by the previous reviewers and can't add much more to the good features of this timer. I was replacing a 10/11 year old timer and most of the features of this made it more than worth the cost. However, one giant flaw and this is very important depending on where you live and if you under watering restrictions.

If you want to water your zones in multiple cycles to prevent run off and give your yard a good watering, then I would suggest you look at another timer. Something I did not noticed until after I got it installed and began to setup the watering times, you only have control over the first watering time, so if you want to water more than one time you can't set the subsequent start times, the timer sets them at 3,6 and 9 hour intervals depending on how many times you want to water on any given day. 2x=6hours, 3x=

So for me this is really bad because I live in Texas and currently I am only allowed to water 2 times a week on...

A little pricey, but worth it!!!!
The Rain Bird SST12000 controller costs more than some of the lesser quality ones but it is well worth the extra expense. This model can be located either indoors or outdoors since it includes a weather proof enclosure. It is very easy to program which can be done before it is even installed if desired. It does not require a battery back up since the programming is apparently loaded into internal fixed storage. That even includes the time once the time has been set initially. How it does that is a mystery to me!!

As a retired engineer I am impressed with the construction quality and the features available. Each station can be completely programmed independent of the other stations so in effect you have 12 zones that can be set up to water multible times in any day, week and so on. Lesser controllers normally have 3 or 4 zones with multiple numbers of different stations all programmed alike. This one feature is alone worth the extra money. I would give Rain Bird a...
Rainbird Timer Review
I was replacing a more expensive light commercial grade timer that became erratic. I bought this because it was zone specific for control sequences. It is about the easiest device I have ever used that required programming. I was done in less than three minutes and I have 11 zones. It takes about 30 seconds per zone if you use it's ability to set up multiple cycles for a zone. That is the feature I like the most. You can have one zone with a single daily cycle, another with two and others with more or less.

Reprogramming is a breeze. The rain delay is a great feature as is the ability to add/subtract a percentage of time depending on the type of weather. Wire connections were very easy and very secure and the display has large characters that you can read without glasses.

Someone had mentioned that the second timed cycle for a zone is preset to begin six hours after the first cycle and they found that to be annoying. If you start watering at 7 am, go...

Like a swiss watch
This is the second season and this valve works great. After spending a lot of money on those timers that screw onto the outside faucet that work for a single season and then break, this one works without any problems and I highly recommend it to anyone serious about long term watering needs.

Exactly what you'd get from Lowes or Home Depot
I actually bought one of these valves because I had to cannibalize it to replace the innards of a failing valve in my yard that I had gotten from Home Depot.

Nothing really to report, the replacement went perfectly and the valve/solenoid worked like a charm.
