Stable sprinkler base
I purchased this to use with the Rain Bird sprinkler. It does the job well. One thing that I had to learn was the base holds water which has rust in it. When you disconnect this from the hose be sure that you empty the ring base and don't soak yourself with rusty water.

Just What I Needed
This impulse sprinkler base is exactly what I needed for smaller areas, when a tower sprinkler has too much coverage. It's light and easy to place and move. Good quality.
Does a great job
I don't really know what competes with this product. If (like I did) you have a spike type impulse sprinkler that you want to covert to a portable, or for some reason just wish to select your own sprinkler head, then this is what you need. If (like I did) you buy a sprinkler with a good sprinkler head and a cheap plastic base, and you crack the base by over-tightening when you put it together, then this is what you need. Regardless, it creates a very stable base for an impulse sprinkler. Being made of iron it will eventually rust. Everything made of iron will eventually rust.

You Could Probably Find Better.
Some time ago I needed a couple sprinklers, one for the front yard and one for the back. I bought two of these Nelson Metal whirling sprinklers. Frankly, I haven't been very satisfied with this product. They seemed to work rather well at first. Then a little bit of corrosion of the metal parts set in. The whirling thingy became reluctant to whirl. I tried a number of cures, including a dose of WD-40. It helped. However, in order to properly whirl, the water now has to be fully on otherwise it just won't work. Next, I noticed that the sprinkler leaks badly around the hose junction and around the base of the whirler. Let's face it, these sprinklers are just little pieces of junk. I still use mine, but I feel somewhat annoyed every time. If you're looking for a sprinkler, you could probably find a better one.

I like the pattern of the water with this sprinkler. Also, it covers a lot of area tossing water up and out. It looks cool with the water pattern spinning into the air especially with the sun shinning on it. Very effective visually as well as functionally. Get it!

Great Product, fixed my leak
I had unscrewed my washing machine hoses, took out, and then cleaned the filters. But when I put back in my old filtered washers I noticed that they were not working well and I had some water leaking. So I bought these and now all my problems are solved. Product was shipped quickly and securely. Easy to use/install and worked immediately. I'd buy them again and I'd recommend them. Great price too.

On sale at Lowe's
This same model no. sprinkler was on sale at Lowe's for less than $14 at their end of summer sale this week. I bought one because the city and parks department I live in use them. The newer style impulse sprinklers are much better than first generations and have more useful adjustments. They look more elegant. run quieter. and make a good impression to others on your lawn. I beg to differ with the first review in that the plastic connection for your garden hose on the sprinkler base is what you want because metal connectors rust. I have a few like this and you have to oil the connector a few times a season to get it to screw on. I like that the base is on a metal spike with foot pads which makes it easier to insert in the ground. The plastic inserts can break or come loose as the sprinkler vibrates going through it's motions and you have water shooting all over the place.

Nice sprinkler... with pressure
1st a little bit about the sprinkler. I found no real details on how it sprays, but ordered it thinking I would return it if it didn't meet my expectations. This is a 360 degree spray, it shoots up and around in a circle. Under full water pressure it will send nice big rain drops out to the edge of a 30' circle and mist the inner circle.

These are touted as 'low water pressure friendly', as a result I purchased 2 so I could run them in series (one connected to a second sprinkler on the same hose line). While they do a good job and cover my entire yard (pretty much), 1 of the 2 gets stuck in one direction when I run them in series. A little aggravating when you put it on a timer and then end up with a line of watered grass vs a large circle of watered grass.

Build construction is solid. Metal base, a little light weight but fine. The spinner and green heart thing are plastic so we will see how they stand up to the TX sun.

Worth every penny
This sprinkler is well made, sturdy and easy to use. It seems to spray a lot of water and has a consistent, even spray pattern (unlike the cheaper sprinkler I was using before). The wings make it easy to stomp the spike into the ground.

Fairly programmable
This sprinkler has radius adjustments and angle adjustments. I like the water output, but my line couldn't support both at 100% (maybe (70%).
Didn't last very long
I have a flat round dramm sprinkler that is great, but I wanted one that could cover more area at one time. This sprinkler didn't even last through one summer beforeit had issues, and wouldn't spray much at all. Very dissapointd

Broke in 2 weeks
I spent an extra amount on this sprinkler after my last $30 sprinkler broke after 3 years. I thought this product, with many metal parts, would be more durable than the broken one. However, in 2 weeks, one of the knobs that set the width of the arc of water stopped working. In addition, the length of the sprinkler spread was much less than advertised.

Disappointed
After three or four uses the gear broke. It's really hard to find quality stuff anymore. If something lasts a year people think that it is something great. This is not something that will last a year, unless you're lucky.

Simply the best I have ever used
This sprinkler is simply the best I have ever used. I live in Los Angeles and have an underground system in the back yard, but have used various hose attached sprinkers in the front yard for 23 years. The front yard is the normal geometric grab bag with curb strip, sloping pyramid cut where the walkway to the porch divide the main lawn, etc.
I thoroughly dislike impulse sprinklers because of no control. I also hate wasting water on the sidewalk. When I would find a well designed sprinkler I would buy several because I learned that the design could be discontinued. This was my first online effort and I purchased several promising designs. But after my first use of this one I sent the others back and purchased four more of these. The adjustable stream screw (the first I've ever seen) just continues to amaze me. Watering the 3ft X 35ft curb strip is (for the first time) easy and not wasteful. The Polymer model is cheaper and if you have other metal bases you might want to consider...

Great for the right purpose
I bought several of these to setup in patterns for yard lawns controlled by timers. I like the ability to control the pattern and get water evenly distributed in range from device. It probaly won't last more than a couple of years. But for me, it is the best I can do without underground sprinkler.
Best we've found
We live on a steep hill with poor water pressure. This sprinkler does the job and does it well. Easily ajusted, wide spread or narrow and the water shoots out further than any sprinkler we've used in the past. I think I got the last available one from Amazon so sure hope they offer more. It is the best!

Excellent - all metal construction, even distribution, back for more!
I purchased three different sprinklers in the hope of finding a good one...all from this manufacturer. For the price I was a little skeptical but all were well made - all metal construction - but this was by far the best of the lot. The distribution pattern mimics rain - very even and good coverage throughout without excessive soaking in one area and dry patches in others. Droplets rather than mist so less evaporation - important in Florida - but the droplets are very fine so not prone to harm even tender young seedlings. Another nice feature is the ability to daisy chain several together. I'm back to buy a few more - great price, excellent product. I'll try to update later to discuss durability but at least initially - very pleased.

UPDATE 07/2012 - I've now owned these for four years and they are going strong. HOWEVER, it has been brought to my attention that the company has chanced the product and may not be using all metal grommets/other which impacts quality...

Great Sprinkler
This is a great sprinkler for the price. I haven't used it for its maximum range (35'x35'), but for areas of 20'-25' and smaller, I can say that it works great. It holds the square pattern quite well and spreads the water perfectly for lawn and turf. Well-built construction is also a plus.
Great ad, but lasts about 2 months
Bought three of these, they do work very well but the aluminum shaft that holds the propeller wears out in about 6 - 8 weeks and it's pretty much useless after that .. not a good buy ..

Best yet but only 4 stars
Best multiple pattern sprinkler by quite a bit. This type waters in odd shaped areas. Only had ours a month but used it every other day in another part of the garden. Quality is better than two or three others we have tried. Generally the watering patterns are fairly even.

Only gave it 4 stars because there is one or two patterns missing on this and others that would be helpful. That would be 90 deg and 45 degrees for corners and narrow triangle shapes. The rounded square pattern on this one is unique and superior to sharp corner square which puts too much water in corners.

Sprinklers take a beating weather wise being outdoors and under the sun. Plastic has a limited life with this exposure. Sprinklers break or wear out after a few years commonly. Maybe people do not want to pay for a quality metal sprinkler with brass fittings. We have one that has lasted over ten years and shows no sign of wear or performance. GREAT SPRINKLER
I have a very small yard and this sturdy sprinkler allows me to water only the area I want in the way I want. My only quibble is that over the years the quick click feature has turned into a slow/difficult to click feature. I think that's my fault however, as by mistake I've left it outside over several of our severe winters. I still give it a 5 star as it does just what I want it to do.
Terrific sprinkler!
I have small front and back yards that are kind of sectioned. I've been looking for a sprinkler that doesn't waste water by throwing water too far. This sprinkler is easy to manipulate and manuever, and works better than the many I've bought previously that are taking up space in my garage. Highly recommend.

Great idea but breaks easily.
Have been looking all over for a good bubbler. Several years ago bought a plastic one for a couple dollars and found it was the greatest thing for watering container plants and spot watering beds. Since I have added more plants, had need another for a second and third line. Bought one of these and loved it, but the head broke off. So when I saw someone had was selling them at close out price of $3.00, I bought three. Regretfully, have broken two more in less than a season. The problem is the head is very thin aluminum and if you drop it when you finish using it, the head can break of where it screws onto the hose. Or if you try to screw the bubbler on by twisting its head, it comes right off. All in all, a very poor execution of product that can be of great use.

And yes, the old cheap plastic bubbler just keeps working. Drops concrete, no problem. Twist the head to tighten, no problem. My only problem is I can't find more of them.

Perfect for a home garden.
Great product that allows you to water plants at full water pressure without having the water dig into the ground. This bubbler looks better built than the bubblers I've bought from my local osh. Have used this style of bubbler for the past 20 years, as others have noted it is very easy to snap the head off when using. The way around this is to apply CarGo 16002 QuikSteel Steel Reinforced Epoxy Putty Repair, Blister Pack - 2 oz. to the top of the bubbler to give it more support. I provided a picture of how it looks under customer pictures. I've done this for the last two years and they are still holding up.

Just what I was looking for. I used a device similar to this 25 years ago to water my garden. I have started a garden again and couldn't find anything like this in stores. Received my order about a month ago, connected them to my hoses and works just like I want it to. I have four Gilmore Bubblers fed by one hose and water four rows at a time. The bubblers control the flow of water to where I have a full flow but don't wash out the soil. I like them...
