A great value and installation is very easy
The Orbit 20066 Portable 1/4-Inch Outdoor Mist Cooling System is an incredibly good bargain. It has about 20 feet total of flexible plastic hose. One end has a hose adapter that is compatible with any garden hose, and it comes with metal mister nozzles spaced every two feet in the last ten feet of the hose length. Additionally, it comes with five alligator clips for mounting the Portable Outdoor Mist Cooling System on a chain link fence or thin pipe or rod. Each clip comes with a plastic fastener that can loop around a chain-link fence and snap into place.

Installation is amazingly easy. String the length of mister hose where it will be mounted, snap the clips into place, put the mister hose into the alligator clips, then screw the mister nozzles in place. I bought four Orbit Mist Cooling Systems to cool four of our dugouts on our Fast Pitch Softball fields, and I had all four in place and tested in about an hour. Easily clogged nozzles
Nice item and I like it. The nozzles do a good job of creating a fine mist with the occasional stream instead of mist. The mist is not as fine as I had hoped for, what ever it falls on WILL eventually be wet. Depending on the temperature of your water source, it may or not feel all much cooler while in use. Tip: Use a light colored hose, a dark hose will certainly spew forth hot water.

My reason for dropping one star on the rating is that the nozzles are very very very fine. They WILL clog, guaranteed. And sadly, there is not so much as a mesh filter/washer included.

My solution cost another $5, I bought a mesh cone filter at the Depot/Lowes with the gasket molded into it, and then loosely shoved a cotton ball into the hose opening before attaching to the mister. The mesh cone filter will catch the cotton ball, and together they will provide decent filtration.

I had trouble finding the mesh cone filter, which I thought odd, as every sprinkler...
Good Value
Being called basic, I was suprised to find how well it works. My climate in Northeast Missouri is extremely humid, and figured mist cooling would not work as well as in AZ or other arid area. I was wrong. It turns a warm breeze into a cool one. I hang it on a portable canopy with a cooler full of cold ones and enjoy the afternoon outside at 90 degrees instead of in the AC

Orbit misting system extension
As I said in my review of the ORBIT BASIC MISTING SYSTEM, this product is acceptable for the price. As for the extension, I'd suggest adding one extension at a time - there seems to be enough pressure loss thru the 3/8" tubing to have a noticeble effect from the first nozzle to the last on the 20 ft I've installed. I don't think I'd try to extend the system beyond 30 ft though they claim this can be extended to 50 ft.

Perfect addition to my Awning
To start with I bought a metal awning that already had a 20' mister system on it. But I found that it was just a little short for what I needed. I saw this and thought, what a perfect add on. It shipped fast and was exactly what they said it would be. Now it does NOT come with a connector so that you can just add it to your existing system when you get it. You will need to get one from the hardware store. I bought the one that just slips on and has little rubber O rings inside it. After that I had it up in no time and adjusted the misters to the right angle and bam, it was done. Now when it hits 120 hear in AZ I won't roast just going out on the porch. Just a little note. If you need to adjust the angle of the misters then you just have to hold the hose and give a good twist on the mister casing. They are shrink fit on, but not glued. And no they don't leak afterwords. Happy cooling

easy outdoor mister
I bought this at ACE hardware and brought it home for the kids. It produces a very fine mist and doesn't hog water like a sprinkler. I was going to use it for an outdoor birthday party refresher. You'll have to move it around as it does tend to have water pool around it within a few minutes.
The birds LOVE it for two things: 1) its refreshing as a birdbath 2) it keeps the cats away.
It isn't family heirloom quality, but it is easy to use and works within seconds of turning water on.
Easy, Portable, good intro to misters before $$$ investment
I have previously looked and researched homebuilt mister systems for our partially shaded concrete patio. Just a few weeks back I purchased the Orbit 30060 Arizona Outdoor Misting System Basic 3/8-Inch Cooling Set thru Amazon. I like it, but back to the portable mister... I was in the big orange hw store this afternoon and they had the exact portable mister sold here for under Eight Bucks. I grabbed one for testing and have since tried it on our 96? afternoon. Placed it near the dog and I and it performed as the other mister, steady non sloppy fine mist. Not much of a coverage area obviously with the (2) misters and with a little breeze less so.

Pyrex measuring cup shows 60 secs uses ? cup or 6 fl oz water or 2.8125 US gallons per hour. Being in a conservation state I was reluctant to leave it on for 5mins but after I checked the consumption I now feel confident enough for the green eco friendly...

Your connection
The parts list for even a modest backyard drip irrigation system can be quite long, and it all starts at the faucet. You need a way to connect your 1/2-inch plastic line to a faucet, a filter to keep any debris out of the little drip openings, a pressure regulator that keeps the water pressure low enough and a back-flow preventer so that any ca ca in the garden won't be somehow sucked back up the pipes, out your faucet and into your mother-in-law's seventh bourbon and water.

All this can be costly and then you have to figure out how to assemble it, and you know that connecting a bunch of plumbing fixtures together can result in you getting a bag of expensive brass bushings, pipes, adapters, etc.

Or, get this fine little unit. Cheap, all-in-one and just fine for a modest back-yard system. You can easily add a timer to it so long as it has faucet/hose connections as most of the small in-line battery operated timers do. This makes for a good, affordable and legal...

All in one is the way to go...
This item was exactly what I was looking for. I also purchased 1/4, 1/2 and full pattern micro-sprayers at the same time.
They connected and functioned as advertised and as I expected. The units all came well packaged and on time.
I recently installed a micro watering systems in 8 of our 12 gardens...I have no exact way to measure it but I am 100% sure that our watering usage has dropped like a rock over the same time last year.

Great Misting system for the Price
I purchased one of these a few weeks back at the local big box store for a friends patio. Orbit, if your not already aware is primarily a sprinkler company. Misting products is an obvious extension of their core business. I only mention that since name recognition was a factor in this purchase. I have used their products before and felt comfortable with them.

Having absolutely no experience in misting products or knowing the difference between a High-pressure system and a Low-pressure system at the time. I have to say this product, for the price, delivers what it says. If you have ever dealt with, installed or repaired a sprinkler system you will have no problem installing this, all pipe and fittings are 1/2" Sch 40 PVC and the kit comes with a uni-bond cement, meaning you don't need the purple primer. This simplifies things and speeds installation.

The kit includes 5 solid brass misting nozzles(lesser kits are plastic) and a very nice solid brass auto...

Florida Mist
This is by far the best Mist system I have anstalled. It looks prof. and get lots of compliments. Install is very easy. took about 2 hrs. I changed the mist heads each spring. I suggest getting the filter to help keep the nozzles clean. I have had this for over two years and still works great. Pic above is this summer

Almost perfect but one giant flaw
OK, I agree w/ all that was said by the previous reviewers and can't add much more to the good features of this timer. I was replacing a 10/11 year old timer and most of the features of this made it more than worth the cost. However, one giant flaw and this is very important depending on where you live and if you under watering restrictions.

If you want to water your zones in multiple cycles to prevent run off and give your yard a good watering, then I would suggest you look at another timer. Something I did not noticed until after I got it installed and began to setup the watering times, you only have control over the first watering time, so if you want to water more than one time you can't set the subsequent start times, the timer sets them at 3,6 and 9 hour intervals depending on how many times you want to water on any given day. 2x=6hours, 3x=

So for me this is really bad because I live in Texas and currently I am only allowed to water 2 times a week on...

A little pricey, but worth it!!!!
The Rain Bird SST12000 controller costs more than some of the lesser quality ones but it is well worth the extra expense. This model can be located either indoors or outdoors since it includes a weather proof enclosure. It is very easy to program which can be done before it is even installed if desired. It does not require a battery back up since the programming is apparently loaded into internal fixed storage. That even includes the time once the time has been set initially. How it does that is a mystery to me!!

As a retired engineer I am impressed with the construction quality and the features available. Each station can be completely programmed independent of the other stations so in effect you have 12 zones that can be set up to water multible times in any day, week and so on. Lesser controllers normally have 3 or 4 zones with multiple numbers of different stations all programmed alike. This one feature is alone worth the extra money. I would give Rain Bird a...
Rainbird Timer Review
I was replacing a more expensive light commercial grade timer that became erratic. I bought this because it was zone specific for control sequences. It is about the easiest device I have ever used that required programming. I was done in less than three minutes and I have 11 zones. It takes about 30 seconds per zone if you use it's ability to set up multiple cycles for a zone. That is the feature I like the most. You can have one zone with a single daily cycle, another with two and others with more or less.

Reprogramming is a breeze. The rain delay is a great feature as is the ability to add/subtract a percentage of time depending on the type of weather. Wire connections were very easy and very secure and the display has large characters that you can read without glasses.

Someone had mentioned that the second timed cycle for a zone is preset to begin six hours after the first cycle and they found that to be annoying. If you start watering at 7 am, go...

Good product, but shipping is deceptive.
While the misting nozzles were as described, don't be fooled by the "combined shipping" tag. The only thing they combine is everything into one package. You still pay postage for each order of misting nozzles separately. I paid $19.95 for 5 packages of misting nozzles, and I paid $24.95 for shipping. They claim that Amazon won't let them combine shipping costs and said the misting nozzles were still cheap even if I figured in all the shipping costs. Typically, when a consumer sees a notice about combined shipping, you assume (I know..my fault) that it means they will combine everything into one package and only charge you shipping for that package. I felt very misled.

Works perfectly, but you need to understand the drain valve
After reading the mixed reviews of this product I was skeptical about the performance when I bought it. It was easy to install, nice solid brass misters and the perfect length for our patio. After the first use I emptied the drain valve only to turn it back on and see water shooting out the end. I thought it was because I didn't have it tight enough or loose enough. Then my brilliant wife asked if there was supposed to be a stopper inside to cease the water flow. Low and behold when I took the drain valve cover off earlier a little teeny round black rubber ball fell out. Once placed back inside it worked like a champ again. The drain valve no longer leaked.

Make sure when you empty the drain valve that you don't let the tiny rubber ball fall out, otherwise your misting system will be nothing more than a hose.

Orbit misting system
I installed this system, along with a 10 ft extension, about 2 weeks ago hoping to cool the front deck which seems to radiate heat during hot, sunny days. It has provided some cooling but not as much as I had hoped for. My first problem was that the drain valve didn't work - it just spouted water though it was suppossed to close when the system is under pressure. I ended up folding over the end of the tubing and then open it back up to drain the system when I turn it off. Without draining it the nozzles drip for hours. The other problem is the operating pressure. I've found I have to really fine tune the pressure at the hose bib which feeds the system - too much pressure and the deck is drenched in a matter of minutes, too little pressure and the nozzles don't mist, they just spray or drip. They say this system can be extende out to 50 ft but I wouldn't recommend that. With 20 ft I can see a marked difference in the pressure at the first nozzle and the last. There seems to be too much...
Summer Relief
After researching a half dozen misting systems. I chose this one because of the price and the statement that it was easy to install. From package to completion it took 15 minutes. It really does drop the temperature and now family and friends hangout on my patio during the heat of the summer. It's Great!

Nice price, Simple to use, Works well
This sprinkler system was easy to hook up and VERY EASY to program multiple sprinklers and timers, took maybe a couple minutes to set all the settings I needed.

Not sure why the other guy gave it 1 star and had such a long rant. For a "computer programmer" I'd think he'd be smart enough to use this simple sprinkler system timer...

Works As Designed
I needed a replacement for my system that went bad and this not only worked well but it also added extra zones for additional watering.
No AC error just after less than a week's use
It's easy to install but worked only for a few days. Then the "No AC" error showed and none of the timer station would work. For sure my AC outlet worked fine. I even tried a few other wall outlets which were proved working but still got the "No AC" error on display. I measured the voltage output from the transformer to the PCB and got 29V AC. So there is AC! I think the IC chip on the control board must be malfunctioning.

Fast service, easy to install and completely programmable. Much better construction than the old Champion it replaced. My neighbors liked it so much they are buying one too. Even triggers a valve set a low pressure for drip.

Seemed to have problems with my older actuators
I was replacing a really old controller that is difficult to program, and doesn't have features like rain delay. This unit worked great for about a day, then started showing a "No AC" in the display, and would not activate the sprinkler actuators. Customer support said that is reading as not plugged in or no power, but the outlet was fine and trying other outlets did not help. Pulling the battery and leaving it out for a while reset the unit. But only got one test cycle through the sprinklers and the "No AC" error was back.

Customer support said it might be due to bad actuators and I tested the lines at the end that goes into the unit and all had enough resistance as they said to check for and all work with the old controller. Perhaps if all the old actuators (3 new and 3 old) were replaced it would work, but replacing working actuators in order to possibly make it work isn't very appealing. So I'm not sure if the unit was bad or I have one or more problems elsewhere...

This product is outstanding for the money! It has all of the programs and watering options offered by more expensive models. I mounted the timer in the garage. The timer box is very sturdy and includes locking security allowing no one to mess with the program.

Programming was not too difficult when I finally forgot everything I thought I knew from my old timer. If you can understand what you read in the manual...programming is a breeze...but you must pay attention as some functions must be programed at each station. I am extremely pleased with the product !
