Not For Use in Firm Soil
I purchased 5 of these and had a major problem. I needed to move the spikes after initially putting them in the ground and, unfortunately, the tops are not strongly attached to the spike so in every case the top pulled off and left the spike in the ground. I had to literally dig the spikes out of the ground. I purchased the Dramm Premium Hose Spikes #13001 from Amazon and, although I have not yet put them in the ground, they appear to be much better made. Unfortunately, they are about twice the price of the Orbit ones.

A bit on the flimsy side but serviceable nonetheless.
I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person on the planet who still hauled a rubber hose around his yard. For several years now I have been looking for new hose guides to replace some I purchased more than a decade ago. I checked my local hardware store as well as the big box stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. No one carried this item anymore. Does everyone have an automatic sprinkler system these days? In any event I really needed to locate some and finally thought to check for them online. Just about the only product I could find was the Orbit 58189 Hose Guide Spike. I immediately ordered a dozen.
I would agree with another reviewer that the Orbit 58189 Hose Guide Spike appears to be rather flimsy. I would have preferred to pay a bit more for something more substantial. But having said that this product definitely does the job it was designed to do. I no longer have to worry about my heavy rubber hose running roughshod over our annual and perennial gardens...
works good around corners
This works good to keep my solar lights standing when I drag the hose around the corner. I am happy the performance.
