A great value and installation is very easy
The Orbit 20066 Portable 1/4-Inch Outdoor Mist Cooling System is an incredibly good bargain. It has about 20 feet total of flexible plastic hose. One end has a hose adapter that is compatible with any garden hose, and it comes with metal mister nozzles spaced every two feet in the last ten feet of the hose length. Additionally, it comes with five alligator clips for mounting the Portable Outdoor Mist Cooling System on a chain link fence or thin pipe or rod. Each clip comes with a plastic fastener that can loop around a chain-link fence and snap into place.

Installation is amazingly easy. String the length of mister hose where it will be mounted, snap the clips into place, put the mister hose into the alligator clips, then screw the mister nozzles in place. I bought four Orbit Mist Cooling Systems to cool four of our dugouts on our Fast Pitch Softball fields, and I had all four in place and tested in about an hour. Easily clogged nozzles
Nice item and I like it. The nozzles do a good job of creating a fine mist with the occasional stream instead of mist. The mist is not as fine as I had hoped for, what ever it falls on WILL eventually be wet. Depending on the temperature of your water source, it may or not feel all much cooler while in use. Tip: Use a light colored hose, a dark hose will certainly spew forth hot water.

My reason for dropping one star on the rating is that the nozzles are very very very fine. They WILL clog, guaranteed. And sadly, there is not so much as a mesh filter/washer included.

My solution cost another $5, I bought a mesh cone filter at the Depot/Lowes with the gasket molded into it, and then loosely shoved a cotton ball into the hose opening before attaching to the mister. The mesh cone filter will catch the cotton ball, and together they will provide decent filtration.

I had trouble finding the mesh cone filter, which I thought odd, as every sprinkler...

Being called basic, I was suprised to find how well it works. My climate in Northeast Missouri is extremely humid, and figured mist cooling would not work as well as in AZ or other arid area. Water Wand is GREAT
I bought two of this not knowing if they would be what I wanted. I didn't need all the different "sprays" that some wands offer. I just wanted an adjustable water flow with a spray that would not damage my plants or dig up the soil. This wand does just that. Simple, easy to use, adjustable, and sturdy. Hopefully, the metal fixtures on it will last much longer than the regular plastic models. GREAT WAND.

How did I ever do without it?
Recommended by my landscaper when he put in a new planting for me. It puts out a steady, gentle, focused rainspray that's good for practically all types of plants. I have a lot of young trees, and used to dread having to water them with a hose and nozzle. Now it's fun with this light, ultra comfortable 30" wand. Just measure first your rate of flow (how many seconds to release a gallon), turn the valve to on, watch your second hand, and easily move around the plant or tree. I get done in half the time and with less than half the backache. Bravo!
AS GOOD AS THEY SAID
Now here is an item I can heartily endorse. I'm writing a review because there is a method for using this product that I don't recall seeing in the description. In addition to the fast (I mean really fast) watering you can do with this terrific product, you can also use it as a soaker. I bought this after my watering wand literally broke in two. It was the variety with all of the 5 or 6 settings that none of us uses. I did, however, use the soaker setting to deep water trees and shrubs in this part of my garden. I was happy to discover that the valve used to shut off the water at the junction of wand and hose will also allow you to vary the flow rate from "off" to "full flow". This is really handy, since I don't have to return to the faucet and change the flow rate. A real time saver. This is money well spent, in my view. You won't be sorry if you buy this. You may ask why I wonly give the wand a 4-star rating? Well, there was one other setting on my previous water wand...

Orbit misting system extension
As I said in my review of the ORBIT BASIC MISTING SYSTEM, this product is acceptable for the price. As for the extension, I'd suggest adding one extension at a time - there seems to be enough pressure loss thru the 3/8" tubing to have a noticeble effect from the first nozzle to the last on the 20 ft I've installed. I don't think I'd try to extend the system beyond 30 ft though they claim this can be extended to 50 ft.

Perfect addition to my Awning
To start with I bought a metal awning that already had a 20' mister system on it. But I found that it was just a little short for what I needed. I saw this and thought, what a perfect add on. It shipped fast and was exactly what they said it would be. Now it does NOT come with a connector so that you can just add it to your existing system when you get it. You will need to get one from the hardware store. I bought the one that just slips on and has little rubber O rings inside it. After that I had it up in no time and adjusted the misters to the right angle and bam, it was done. Now when it hits 120 hear in AZ I won't roast just going out on the porch. Just a little note. If you need to adjust the angle of the misters then you just have to hold the hose and give a good twist on the mister casing. They are shrink fit on, but not glued. And no they don't leak afterwords. Happy cooling

Awesome Timer
I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have a remote on my sprinkler system! Have you ever tried having your kids turn the sprinklers on and off while you adjust the heads? I gave up and do it myself. My family used to sit and laugh at my annual sprikler adjusting comedy session. Talk about being tired and soaked! Now with this timer I can turn it on/off from the remote. I stay dry and save a ton of walking back and forth. I keep the remote in the kitchen in case I want to add a little watering or cancel the watering because somebody is in the shower etc. I love it! The range on the remote is good. Reaches beyond my 1/3 acre lot. The only problem I have had was when my neighbor bought one of the really cool Orbit touch screen remote timers and we were both actuating each others times! After resetting the timers and syncing the remotes again that problem went away. Awesome timer!

Bought this unit with remote controller to replace a malfunctioning 7 year-old unit that had only 8 stations and no remote feature (different manufacturer). As I was reworking new irrigation on a large residential property, the remote control feature seemed like a good idea. I have had the unit for a few months now and the job is almost done. All in all, I am quite happy with the unit. It saved me a tremendous amount of leg work walking back and forth between the master unit, the irrigation valves, and each irrigation zone. Programming was very intuitive and the range for remote operation was about 120ft with residential structures in the line of sight. Installation of wires into each of the 12 station slots at the bottom of the unit however required some effort as the design does not allow easy sliding of the wires into their positions without a lot of trying blindly to find the small openings. That is exactly what I wanted
Easy to install, easy to use. The remote control hand unit is small and neat and easy to operate. Only the sleeve (wire cover) is a little bit too small to push in all the wires, but it did work. Before I fount this remote control timer, my husband and I had to use walkie-talkie to test and maintain our sprinkler system. I will never go back to non-remote controller.

Good product
I bought one of these Dramm nozzles 3 or 4 years ago at a nursery. Recently it started leaking so I have to replace it, but I must say, it's a very good product overall. The various nozzle options produce a variety of useful sprays. The one for "soaker" puts out a nice, soft, aerated spray that's ideal for watering plants in pots without blasting the dirt around. The "jet" is a really strong blast that's good for cleaning things.

Last weekend I picked up a similar replacement nozzle made by Gilmour at Lowe's. It's a nice looking unit with the same settings as the Dramm, so I figured, why not? When I got it home and put it on the hose, I was shocked at how poorly its spray options compared to the Dramm. The "soaker" stream is much too vigorous (useless for watering potted plants), while the "jet" is wimpy compared to my old Dramm. The only setting on the Gilmour that's the least bit useful is "mist", so I'm returning it to the store and getting another Dramm from Amazon. I...

NOT AS TOUGH AS IT LOOKS
The interworkings of this sprayer are made of inexpensive plastic parts, whereas the outside is made of durable metal. Eventually, this sprayer will break because of the inner plastic parts. It will still work with limited usefullness but will suffer from leakage, diminished water flow or inablilty to turn off, etc. I purchased the nozzle about 4 years ago at a garden center, and have found all of the water spray patterns easy to use, and have enjoyed the bright yellow color (although it has faded over time). Be careful not to drop the nozzle, and protect it from the sun.
Another multi-spray nozzle in the trash
Every single one of these multi-spray pistol grip nozzles breaks within months of buying. The weakness is that there is one very lame washer that has to deal with all the pressure of the water. It doesn't last and water starts, not dripping, but gushing from the sides of the nozzle. I am looking for any tips on a nozzle that would last for at least a year. At $15-20 a pop these nozzles are one of my biggest garden equipment expenses. And I hate to think what the local landfill looks like with all these old nozzles in the heap. That makes this product unacceptable at any price in my mind.

Unusual but works great
I won this as a door prize and laughed. I figured it would be just something else to sell at the next garage sale, but I thought I'd try it first. I was impressed. It does put out a lot of water (we have 80# pressure) and the large end controls the stream easily. I'm able to adjust the stream from concentrated full force to a fine mist and since it puts out so much water, it cut the time I need to water the flowers in the morning in half. I'm so impressed, I'm buying another for the front yard.

The only thing I didn't like about it was that the on/off seemed backwards to me. You pull back to start the flow and push forward to stop. Also, it is heavy, but at least I don't have to worry about it falling apart like the plastic ones.

Update--Dec 27,2009 - I've now used 2 of these all summer and fall and am still sold. They're great. I was able to reverse the on/off lever by removing the screws and switching the handle to the reverse side of the nozzle as...

Nelson High Pressure Nozzle
I've used this nozzle for about a year with super results. My outside water pressure is close to 90 pounds PSI and will blow most nozzles apart. I do recommend removing nozzle during freezing weather since ice can rupture the interior movement. Nelson replaced mine at no charge. Great product!
I break everything!!!!
For those of you that break everything that isn't metal, this is the sprayer for you!! Unfortunately, I'm on my second one since the first one was run over by my wife in her 4-Runner. Amazingly, it still worked but the handle was bent over so badly it would not turn on or off all the way. In the unlikely event of a roof fire, it shoots so far that you probably won't need a fire department because you'll be able to put the fire out yourself. (Please call the fire department anyways.) Great for washing the car. You conserve water and blast away dirt w/o a pressure washer. Just be careful when watering plants, it's stupidly powerful and can blow the dirt away. Have fun!!

It is good for its price, and is probably accurate enough for sprinkler systems, but it didn't work for sizing a pressure reduction valve. I got 3 different readings from 3 different hose hookups, using the same test loads each time. If you can hook it up where you will be pulling the water from (as in a hose bib outside), you should be ok. But if you need to find the flow within a pipe, (as in a main pipe in your house) the reading you get from a hose bib won't work. For that, you should rent a high dollar in line flow meter. Fluid dynamics can be tricky.

A Wonderful Alternative
Because I love animals and fresh vegetables, gardening has been nothing but frustration for me.

Let me tell you, I have woodchucks, skunks, raccoons, possums, birds and deer in my yard. And this list is only including the animals I have seen frequently.

Poisoning was absolutely out of the question. For one thing I'd feel awful, guilty and ashamed of myself. We do share this world with animals. Another horrible reaction from this would be that hawks and other predatory animals would be affected by toxins. No way!

I was very pleased and excited to receive and use this in my garden where the only scrawny things barely existing were badly chewed sweet basil, rosemary and chives. My pepper plants, squash and tomato plants were chewed to the stem before drying up entirely.

I feared the worst and my fears were realized
This is my first review after hundreds of Amazon purchase over many years. Why was I so compelled to put in my two cents? In short, I read several reviews for this new product, supposedly a big innovation from earlier models, more features, technologically superior. Was excited to receive on one day overnight and set up (I have a non-stop battle with squirrels pilfering our vegetable garden). This seemed like a humane solution to the problem after reading dozens of blogs (this type of product an effective deterrent to many gardeners plagued by those pesky tomato loving rodents).

Opened the 3 units to set immediately set up my water sentries, deftly hooking up hoses and valves for full control. Followed the instructions to the letter, turned on the water and bam...chaos.

Unit #1: Turns on every 30 or 40 seconds, rapid fire (as I assume and have heard the unit operates), off after 5 seconds of bursts. Changed the sensitivity, pattern kept repeating. Stood...
Operates pretty well, and seems to accomplish its goal
I got this because a cat (or something of similar size) uses part of my back yard as a litter-box, and I've had it.

The product itself is basically a motion detector attached to a sprinkler.

SET UP IS EASY
You hook it up to a hose, set the range of ground you want covered, and push it into the ground, and its ready to go. The connections work well, and the sprinkler comes with a stirrup so that you can put your foot in and drive the spike on the bottom into dirt to hold it in place. My ground is very hard, but this made placement a breeze.

PRODUCT FUNCTIONS WELL
I set this up to cover the litter-box zone, and lined the sensor up so it would follow the slope of the ground. I tested it by walking down range and setting off the sprinkler. This was fine, but I needed to test whether it works on creatures smaller than me. I took a ball about 6 inches in diameter (roughly the size a cat would present when walking) and rolled it into the target...

easy outdoor mister
I bought this at ACE hardware and brought it home for the kids. It produces a very fine mist and doesn't hog water like a sprinkler. I was going to use it for an outdoor birthday party refresher. You'll have to move it around as it does tend to have water pool around it within a few minutes.
The birds LOVE it for two things: 1) its refreshing as a birdbath 2) it keeps the cats away.
It isn't family heirloom quality, but it is easy to use and works within seconds of turning water on.
Easy, Portable, good intro to misters before $$$ investment
I have previously looked and researched homebuilt mister systems for our partially shaded concrete patio. Just a few weeks back I purchased the Orbit 30060 Arizona Outdoor Misting System Basic 3/8-Inch Cooling Set thru Amazon. I like it, but back to the portable mister... I was in the big orange hw store this afternoon and they had the exact portable mister sold here for under Eight Bucks. I grabbed one for testing and have since tried it on our 96? afternoon. It only programs one valve !
This is a good one program timer operating a single valve. The second valve is manually operated and independent of timer. I purchased this under the impression that the timer controls both valves thus my 4 star rating. The Amazon writeup is not clear!

Otherwise, the valve was easy and intuitive to program and simple enough to be reliable. I will put it to use in another application and continue to search for a battery operated multiple program 2 valve system.

YES, it only controls one valve!!!!! Perfect!
I'll admit the product descriptions aren't 100% clear, so... this timer ONLY controls one valve (which is exactly what I wanted). The second sentence in product instructions clearly states that the "THE MANUAL PORT CANNOT BE PROGRAMMED DIGITALLY". Looking at the lower left corner on the front of the unit, a black lever opens and closes the Manual valve (the hose outlet on the left side). The hose outlet on the right side is controlled by the timer (and is the easiest one to program that I have ever used).
If you're looking for a timer unit that can program one hose outlet... and have a second outlet for other watering chores (manually controlled) you will not regret it if you buy this timer. Promise!
This is a ONE zone timer
I bought this timer because I thought I would be able to program both valves. Not the case. The second valve is manual and not set on the timer, which is not made clear under the product features or product description. I would have given it more stars if I could have returned it but the packaging is hard sealed plastic and the only way to open it was to cut it open. It clearly says on the website that they will not accept returns if the product packaging is damaged. Impossible to open it without damaging it. I guess it is a good 1 valve timer but that's not what I wanted. I could have bought a 1 valve timer for less money, so two stars.

Competent controller and remote at a good price, but price comes with compromises
Summary:
Overall the model 57096 is a competent controller at a good price especially considering the included remote, but the price point does come with compromises as I will explain:

Positives:
1. I've used Orbit in the past and have controllers that have lasted many years. I've purchased multiple high-end, much more expensive Rainbird units that never had lasted more than 2 years.
2. The remote is a very nice feature especially given the price charged for the unit. Orbit indicates the remote will work up to about 200 feet from the controller. They suggest installing the controller as high on the wall as possible for best reception. At a mounting height of about 6.5 feet on a garage with no major obstacles in the way and a fresh 9-volt battery, a distance of 200 feet is about correct with the signal having to go through the garage wall.
3. The overall programing is slightly different than many other controllers I've used, but generally easy once...

Nice unit for the money
I've had the Oribit Super-6 Controller with remote for about 1 month and have experienced no problems. I bought this unit to replace a very old irrigation timer (20 years or so) with worn-out manual switches and the remote was a big selling point. I installed the unit myself and the install went OK. The remote works anywhere on my small lot - I estimate the maximum distance I've attempted is somewhere around 75 feet. The remote is a big help when checking for sprinkler head problems and manually watering dry spots on the lawn. Using the remote, you cannot program watering cycles - but only operate zones for fixed amount of time. The remote may work at a further distance, but I have not tested. The main timer is like others in that is takes some study to understand. I was a little disappointed in what appears to be a rather limited number of on/off cycles that can be programmed per day for the main controller. Replacement Timer
I bought this unit as a replacement for an old timer that was getting a mind of it's own. The old unit was mounted outside so I knew I needed to get a unit built for that environment. I also wanted to get a remote controlled unit. After looking at the Hunter and some of the other remote controlled brands, I was sticker shocked and figured I would just have to stick with a non-remote controlled unit.

Enter the Orbit Super-6. Although it is an indoor unit, I found that Orbit makes a exterior box that will fit most of it's timers. So I bought them both on Amazon (though I found that you can get the box for about $8 cheaper at Home Depot and Lowe's). I did have to do just a bit of customization though. I used a hacksaw to separate the remote control holder from the timer then mounted the timer in the box. Gave it a much roomier fit. Good Quality, Intuitive, and Very Adjustable
I've been using K Rain sprinklers for 10 years, since doing my own backyard landscaping on new construction. I've since moved to a house that has Hunters installed. The Hunters are fine but I hate adjusting them, whereas the K-Rain's are much more intuitive. Living in Texas with record heat the past couple summers, we've had to combat dry spots while not wasting water on the sidewalks or street. The K-Rains work great to get additional throw, while still putting down water close to the head. In the past I've bought one at a time as needed. But the price in my local big box home improvement store has steadily increased. With Amazon's low price, I decided to just order few and keep them on hand.

Sprinkler head
This was a great replacement for the pop up heads I had installed originally. I was able to use four of these heads to replace 12 of the pop up heads and it covers better now that it ever has. Will save me a lot of time keeping the grass green.
Sprinkler K1 review
Had to find a sprinkler head that would work on low pressure. Found these heads and ordered them. Installed and crossed my fingers! The work great! Have 4 installed on one line and they work fine. The are good for distance sprinkling but fine on up to about 15 or so feet. Good produce.

Works perfectly, but you need to understand the drain valve
After reading the mixed reviews of this product I was skeptical about the performance when I bought it. It was easy to install, nice solid brass misters and the perfect length for our patio. After the first use I emptied the drain valve only to turn it back on and see water shooting out the end. I thought it was because I didn't have it tight enough or loose enough. Then my brilliant wife asked if there was supposed to be a stopper inside to cease the water flow. Low and behold when I took the drain valve cover off earlier a little teeny round black rubber ball fell out. Once placed back inside it worked like a champ again. The drain valve no longer leaked.

Make sure when you empty the drain valve that you don't let the tiny rubber ball fall out, otherwise your misting system will be nothing more than a hose.

Orbit misting system
I installed this system, along with a 10 ft extension, about 2 weeks ago hoping to cool the front deck which seems to radiate heat during hot, sunny days. It has provided some cooling but not as much as I had hoped for. My first problem was that the drain valve didn't work - it just spouted water though it was suppossed to close when the system is under pressure. I ended up folding over the end of the tubing and then open it back up to drain the system when I turn it off. Without draining it the nozzles drip for hours. The other problem is the operating pressure. I've found I have to really fine tune the pressure at the hose bib which feeds the system - too much pressure and the deck is drenched in a matter of minutes, too little pressure and the nozzles don't mist, they just spray or drip. They say this system can be extende out to 50 ft but I wouldn't recommend that. With 20 ft I can see a marked difference in the pressure at the first nozzle and the last. There seems to be too much...
Summer Relief
After researching a half dozen misting systems. I chose this one because of the price and the statement that it was easy to install. From package to completion it took 15 minutes. It really does drop the temperature and now family and friends hangout on my patio during the heat of the summer. It's Great!
