A Wonderful Alternative
Because I love animals and fresh vegetables, gardening has been nothing but frustration for me.
Let me tell you, I have woodchucks, skunks, raccoons, possums, birds and deer in my yard. And this list is only including the animals I have seen frequently.
Poisoning was absolutely out of the question. For one thing I'd feel awful, guilty and ashamed of myself. We do share this world with animals. Another horrible reaction from this would be that hawks and other predatory animals would be affected by toxins. No way!
I was very pleased and excited to receive and use this in my garden where the only scrawny things barely existing were badly chewed sweet basil, rosemary and chives. My pepper plants, squash and tomato plants were chewed to the stem before drying up entirely.

I feared the worst and my fears were realized
This is my first review after hundreds of Amazon purchase over many years. Why was I so compelled to put in my two cents? In short, I read several reviews for this new product, supposedly a big innovation from earlier models, more features, technologically superior. Was excited to receive on one day overnight and set up (I have a non-stop battle with squirrels pilfering our vegetable garden). This seemed like a humane solution to the problem after reading dozens of blogs (this type of product an effective deterrent to many gardeners plagued by those pesky tomato loving rodents).
Opened the 3 units to set immediately set up my water sentries, deftly hooking up hoses and valves for full control. Followed the instructions to the letter, turned on the water and bam...chaos.
Unit #1: Turns on every 30 or 40 seconds, rapid fire (as I assume and have heard the unit operates), off after 5 seconds of bursts. Changed the sensitivity, pattern kept repeating. Stood...
Operates pretty well, and seems to accomplish its goal
I got this because a cat (or something of similar size) uses part of my back yard as a litter-box, and I've had it.
The product itself is basically a motion detector attached to a sprinkler.
SET UP IS EASY
You hook it up to a hose, set the range of ground you want covered, and push it into the ground, and its ready to go. The connections work well, and the sprinkler comes with a stirrup so that you can put your foot in and drive the spike on the bottom into dirt to hold it in place. My ground is very hard, but this made placement a breeze.
PRODUCT FUNCTIONS WELL
I set this up to cover the litter-box zone, and lined the sensor up so it would follow the slope of the ground. I tested it by walking down range and setting off the sprinkler. This was fine, but I needed to test whether it works on creatures smaller than me. I took a ball about 6 inches in diameter (roughly the size a cat would present when walking) and rolled it into the target...
