makes a big difference
Worth Every Penny but cheaper elsewhere.
I bought this product for about $10 at a home improvement box store (begins with "L"). This will be the third year I have used it. I bought two more for myself this year and got one for my friend.
I run a lot of hoses long distances around my place, and have found any restrictions to flow in the line will cut performance of a sprinkler head considerably. If you look at the inside opening in the common variety of gated wyes, you will see how small and restrictive the passage is. Not so these babies! I'm really glad Gilmour came to the homeowner market with these. It makes a huge difference.
For hose runs over 100 feet it really pays to use larger 3/4 inch hose and fittings like this one. (I see here at Amazon that people are not happy with the plastic ones though).

built to fail
I bought four of these in the last few months. First one blew apart today after two months. Definitely not built to last.
Aluminum corroded!!!!
Concept is good and for the season it worked. But when we went to disconnect the brass hose fittings they wouldn't budge, and I'd just assembled hand tight in the spring. Finally got it apart with wrenches but half the aluminum threads stayed in the brass fittings and the whole inside is pitted and corroded. Paid the extra $2 for aluminum instead of plastic based on reviews here but still doesn't last more than a season. And we are on municipal water so don't think that's the problem. If that big-box that starts with L sold the brass versions that might be the way to go. But avoid the aluminum (and plastic) ones.
