Great Sprinkler
This is the best sprinkler I've ever had. After buying one, I bought another.
Most sprinkers from Home Depot of Lowe's are plastic and break after about a year, probably planned obsolescence.
I would caution against the smaller Gilmour 167MMS, however. This might be the one I got a couple years ago which was NOT made of a metal three prong stand. The stand was composite and made to look like metal and broke the first week I owned it. You need one like the 199LMS with a stand consisting of real metal. Unfortunately they don't give enough information in the Amazon product description to tell which models have a real metal stands and which don't. Perhaps one could find that information on the internet.

Large area horse pasture
I've used these Gilmour sprinklers from Amazon for years. I have five of them on expandable tripods, all operating off of one 2hp pump pumping water from our creek. They can run as long as 24 hours a day and I move them around the pasture every two or three days for adaquate coverage. This not only provides better water use over flood irrigation for conservation but keeps the pasture green all summer and well into fall until the snow flies (we do have some trouble with those darn snow flies, however). Highly recommended. Only downside are the three-prong ground stands in the picture. Don't need 'em, and that could lower the cost, thus the four - instead of five - stars. With the tripods I get far more coverage.
You Need High Pressure Water
Might work if you have really high pressure water from your hose, but did not work for me and had to return.
I have a normal house with average city water pressure, it is even supposed to be fairly good since a plumber said I had a water pressure limiter on my line, and shower and faucet water pressure is fine, but when I hooked this up to the hose, shot maybe a quarter of what it stated. Probably covered about 1000 square feet and did not stop at the stop blocks, just kept going in circles (probably since it is designed for higher water pressure).
I just installed another Gilmour sprinkler and it worked much, much better, and it was for medium sized lawns. Would not recommend this in most residential applications.
